The History of
Summit Management

Summit Management owns and operates several properties throughout the state of Minnesota. From luxury apartments to manufactured home communities, our focus is on providing residents with great housing. Our company was officially started in 1993. Today, we own and operate 9 apartment communities, 9 mobile home communities, 1 resort, and several commercial properties across Minnesota. There are no plans to slow down any time soon. This past year, we celebrated 30 years in business & we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 30!

BlueStone Lofts

Mark had a vision for this project since 2010. The BlueStone Development would consist of 3 phases that would take place over the course of 10 years. Phase 1 was BlueStone Lofts, which opened in 2013. BlueStone Lofts was created to be a luxury apartment community in the best location. Within walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores, the Shops at BlueStone, and UMD & CSS campuses. It also featured key amenities, some of which Summit had never done before. These amenities include an underground parking garage, private bathrooms to cater to those who live with roommates, modern appliances & finishes, updated fitness rooms, & a music room.

Shops at BlueStone

Before we got started with the BlueStone Development, we finalized the plan to create a variety of shops that our residents could walk to and enjoy. The shops slowly progressed, and we added on more over the years. Some of these shops include Starbucks, Qdoba, Sport Clips, Pearl Nails & Spa, Jimmy Johns, Park Dental and Pizza Hut. This was a fun project because we knew with the colleges being close by and our 3 buildings opening up, these shops would be a hit on Woodland Avenue! To this day, the shops are a key part of Duluth and offer a convenience factor like no other for our residents at BlueStone.

BlueStone Flats

Phase 2 of the BlueStone Development was BlueStone Flats, which opened three years later in 2016. This building is connected to the Lofts and shares some of the amenities. The indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, group fitness center & massage room came with the addition of the Flats. The Flats added an outdoor terrace, guest suite, community room, car wash, pet spa, & more sophisticated finishes within the building.

Arbor Ridge Luxury Apartments

Mark saw the success of the developments in Duluth & knew Forest Lake could benefit from a great apartment community. He also knew that if anyone could provide this top-of-the-line service & quality, it would be Summit Management. In 2016, Arbor Ridge was built in the hopes of being a great option for those near the Forest Lake school district. Soon after in 2019, Arbor’s sister property, Timber Ridge was built just 3 miles away.

Stillwater Commons

Our home office location is in Stillwater, Minnesota. We moved our office to Stillwater back in 2005 and was located downtown Stillwater in other buildings leading up to the development of Stillwater Commons. Eventually, the land for Stillwater Commons was purchased by Mark and the vision for the Stillwater Commons building was developed. Summit Management is one of six tenants in the building that we own and manage. Construction for the building started in 2018 and we relocated to our new home office in 2019.

Vue at BlueStone

We introduced the final phase of the BlueStone Development, Vue at BlueStone, in 2020. As you can tell, Summit continued to evolve with each property built. The Vue encompasses the same luxurious & sophisticated feel of the other two, but with a few fun additions. We added a game simulator, a bigger outdoor terrace, a 2-story parking garage, 5th floor community room, guest suite, entertainment suite, & smart apartments. Opening completely sold out during COVID really put the cherry on top of this project, and we are so proud of these 3 BlueStone buildings!
