Property Management / Real Estate Corporate Counsel

Property Management / Real Estate Corporate Counsel will advise on a wide range of legal matters with Summit Management and Lambert & Associates.

The position is primarily responsible for performing hands-on, day-to-day operations and transactional legal work, providing general legal advice for all aspects of the Company, overseeing all landlord/tenant legal issues, and assist with contracts, leases and legal administration of properties and entities. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day legal advice and business counsel to various domestic operating on all aspects of real estate and related transactional matters, including real estate leasing, dispositions, lease disputes, municipal and commercial bids, permitting, and other related matters.
  • Draft and negotiate residential and commercial lease documents including amendments, extensions and renewals, terminations, disputes, and other related matters.
  • Monitor existing residential and commercial leases throughout term of the lease including analyzing and interpreting lease terms, rights and obligations related to development, maintenance, rent calculations, and increases related to percentage rent, common area maintenance expenses, taxes, and insurance; and Estoppel Certificate/Subordination requests.
  • Reviewing and objecting to title commitments and exceptions; reviewing and objecting to surveys; negotiating with various State, City and County officials on various development issues related to permits and projects; and, working closely with municipalities and their counsel. 
  • Supervise the activities of Law Clerk
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:


  • 4-year college degree, BA/BS 
  • J.D.
  • Admission to Minnesota State Bar

Additional Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines, touching on all aspects of the Real Estate. 

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all internal departments of the Company, as well as with outside counsel, external agencies and City/County officials.
  • Working knowledge of laws and procedures pertaining to landlord / tenant, land use, zoning, permitting, administrative law, and code enforcement.
  • Strong organizational, time management and research skills
  • Excellent communication abilities and detail-oriented.
  • Be a self-starter with a diligent work ethic and demonstrated flexibility.
  • Able to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
